the Blue Moment of Haulitorni

After doing everything sensible today, I just had to go out again with the camera.
It was getting dark, it was about 3 o'clock. Blue moment after a while.
(The blue moment comes with the snow, you really can't notice it in summer. It lasts for moment of two - maybe half an hour - every day after sunset and just before the night. The snow and whole world seems to bath in blue colour.)

Today I took the bus and went to Haulitorni. A bit cold weather (-10) again, so half an hour later my fingers started to be ready to leave back home ;)

Haulitorni is an old -tower under which is an old pellet factory. It was a factory for shotgun pellets in 1856-1927. In the history the so called pelletmaster climbed to the top of the tower at 4 o'clock in the morning (bars of lead with him) and made fire into a fireplace there. If there was a freecing weather it could take even 3 hours to warm the fireplace enough to melt the bars of lead. From the tower this pelletmaster dropped smelt lead drops down to the factory. The roundness of pellets for shotgun was shaped during the long drop. This shot tower is 55m high.
Nowadays the Haulitorni -shot tower is a monument for former life and habits of Pispala-area people in Tampere and of course it is a salute for former masters of handwork. The factory underneath the shot tower is used as a restaurant nowadays.
