Lovely Lake District

After an early start, and some pretty horrible wet weather on the A1, we arrived in sunny Hawkshead at about 3pm. The cottage we are staying in, is tucked between other cottages, pubs and the village shops, in the shadow of the church, and surrounding hills. It’s quaint (the kids said small) and I think it will perfect for our week!

We unpacked the car, then parked it in the village car park. It’s a small village packed full of pubs, cafes and gift shops. We had a cup of tea to gather our energies, then took a walk out with the dog to explore a bit. We went through the village and up through a field of sheep, coming back via a small coop where we bought a few bits.

We’ve had dinner so now relaxing with a film. It is extremely hard to find something that suits everyone (I’m the odd one out, the others all like the same as each other, but so much violence in films these days I hate!) so we are watching a comedy called ‘Step Brothers’ which Mollie and Henry say is funny.

Looking forward to exploring the local area, enjoying the cafes & pubs and hopefully reading a book or two! Happy holidays!
