Black Belly Whistling Ducks ....

.... at Lefreniere Park.

BoBB 2019 officially disbanded this morning but there are still three of us left in New Orleans ... Me, Richard and Pipersmom! We are staying in New Orleans for a couple more days and flying home on Tuesday. 

Around noon time we checked out of our hotel in Covington and drove into New Orleans.  Nearby the new hotel (an awful place but I digress!) turned out to be one of my favorite places in New Orleans ..... Lafreniere Park.  Over the next couple of days we spent a lot of time there!

The birds there were varied and plentiful.  The duck pictured here is a first for me .... it's a black-bellied whistling duck.  And there were a lot of them!! The locals actually dislike them because there are so many!

The snowy egret picture was taken earlier in the day on our way back to Big Branch Marsh.  Richard & I went back out there after breakfast.
