Day 112: National Mining Museum

(For some reason completing the update on my photo blog was particularly hard once the trip had finished. However, given that it is now 31st Dec 2012 - and especially since the world didn't end on the 21st (which would have been a great excuse for not finishing projects,) I decided I couldn't / shouldn't procrastinate any longer). Like many others, I'll make a resolution to start a new project tomorrow - and like many others (88% in fact), I'll probably fail. But I'll have fun trying. Which is the point isn't it?) Anyway, back to the blog....

Turns out the camping van was parked only 2 miles from the National Mining Museum. Free. And you get to wear a miner's hat and lamp. Given this was the end of the trip (and therefore my budget), the free part was particularly appealing. Though the lamp was pretty cool also.

So, after four months the grand tour has come to an end.
Over 6000 photos (thank goodness for the digital age!)
5000 miles of English roads
1 lighthouse, 1 wind turbine, and 1 bat walk
2 nuclear bunkers and 2 camera obscuras
3 days of sunshine
4 abbeys and 4 national museums
5 festivals and 5 underground tours
6 cathedrals but 7 castles
18 historic houses (thank you National Trust membership)
41 museums (from bakelite to outer space)
and unknown number of historic villages, beautiful landscapes.....and most importantly...cider farms.
