Oh shut up (I have a headache!)

Today on our New Year's Day holiday we drove down to Goolwa at the Murray mouth to see what bird photos we could find. Due to all of the fishing boats coming and going, there were not many of the bigger birds hanging around. As we were about to leave, I spotted these 2 common Goolwa based seagulls, near the boat ramp.

It appeared that one of them had had a hard night (New Year's Eve for birds) and had a bit of a headache. You can see the male asking the female to "shut up, as I have a headache from last night!" We took that as our cue to leave and head over to Port Elliot for lunch - butter fish and salad, and then on to Victor Harbor for a blip meet. Seen clearer in LARGE.

Goolwa includes wetlands, lakes and coastline. It is one of Australia's top waterbird sites, while 33 bird species found here are listed under international treaties to protect migratory birds.

The day before, our friend Antipodia had posted her first ever blip at my suggestion and encouragement. You can see it here. She had asked us a couple of questions so we decided to call in on her for a surprise visit blip meet. Paladian and I, that is mostly Paladian - then gave Antipodia a Blip tutorial and answered all the questions, and discussed the ins and outs of the Blip site.

We shared the viewing of many great photos, had lots of laughs and took a few photos of Antipodia's wonderful dog Ruby and also the cat Giz. It was a delightful day.

Please check out antipodia's second ever blip of her dog on the nearby beach, and do call back and see her blips regularly. You will be in for a treat.
