Allendale Says Hello........

.......to 2013.

At the end of the Tar Bar'l procession on New Years Eve the 'guisers' throw their flaming barrels onto the bonfire in the Market Square. This is a matter of minutes before midnight. The gap between yesterday's blip and today's is no more than 15 minutes. By this stage those people who thought that it would be a good vantage point to watch proceedings from in front of the Allendale Co-op have regretted their decision as they are engulfed in smoke and sparks.

I must thank Wendy and Graeme again for a great view of the fire and the crowds from their sitting room window above the Allendale Tea Rooms. (For a view from inside the room check out Monkey With A View).

The fire continues to burn for an hour or two as the crowds dwindle and by lunch time today there would be no sign that it ever existed and the Market Square will return to normal use.

(Many thanks to Monkey WAV for teaching me how to include links.)
