Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)

After a break last weekendowing to the guests being there for a fortnight it was back to prepping the Lodge.  Looking out of the window I spotted this young rabbit feeding on the bank.  Not popular with Clickychick as they dig up her bulbs and nip the buds of plants.

Not native to the UK there is some doubt as to whether the Romans introduced them or the Normans.  Which ever it was they didn't become established in the country until the 12th century.  One does wonder why it took so long given their rapid reproduction and there must have been escapees over the years.
