Bramble syrup

A good day on the whole - I sat out for a while with the cats until the sun went in.

I needed space in the freezer to store the runner soup I made yesterday so took out last year's brambles and made syrup with them today. As I write I can catch a whiff of it boiling down in the kitchen! At least I won't need to go bramble picking this autumn - or will I? Great on ice cream!

I've been listing my collection of plants. I know it's not really necessary, but old habits die hard. In my professional life every piece of plant which came to the garden, whether seed, cutting or the whole thing, was recorded and given a number on the database. At least I don't have to worry about numbers now!
