jeni and the beans

Jus' chillin' on ma toybox, eatin' ma socks...

Went to church with Steve's parents this morning.
Funny how I started off thinking how there was nothing for the kids to keep them occupied except some pens and colouring sheets, but ended up thinking how welcoming they really were, inclusive of our little ones without catering for them or pandering to them, but acknowledging them the same as everyone else. Of equal value.
Then there was the realisation of knowing just how much we're being prayed for.

And the icing on the cake for the morning was being given a drum - a real one, a full size snare - by old friends. Who remembered Steve passing on one of his bikes to them when he'd grown out of it when he was just a young boy. And the drum? Well it had come home with Steve's dad from work years and years ago, it was skinless and being thrown out so dad rescued it and brought it home for their friends' little drum-obsessed boy. Re-skinned, much loved, and now back in the family after all these years!

After we'd packed everything up and into the car we headed to my parents' house where we'll be staying the rest of our trip. An excellent meal ensued, and of course the boys were on top form too!

Our bed is two single beds pushed together with an extra duvet rolled up and squashed into the gap. And it's the first time that we as a family have stayed here in an actual bedroom on actual beds too, usually we sleep in the dining room! Very special :)
