I was minded to join the demonstration in Leeds today. The little girl here may not have understood what was going on, but the expression on her face seemed to sum up everything about where we are at the moment. What will she come to make of what's happened under our watch?

Seeing so many people out demonstrating gave me hope today. There were speakers from all parties. I had an opportunity to talk to Hilary Benn afterwards. He was mingling in the crowd, happy to discuss the situation. He listened to people and answered their questions quietly and intelligently. He offered me hope too. Despite what it feels like at the moment, not all politicians are blunder and bluster.
