A Matter Of Scale

Until this morning I had no idea that making porridge was so complicated.

I hadn't realised that our new scales are capable of weighing not only ounces and grammes but also in fluid ounces and millilitres - so when I pressed the conversion button from 'g' to 'lbs' I'd actually changed it to 'fl oz', which looked the same on the display. This was far less oats than I needed so the porridge was coming out too runny. There then followed complex calculations to decide how much extra oats to put in.

It worked out well in the end but tomorrow I think I'll use the old volumetric measure.
