Trees and seas

Off to Sandside. ( they allow dogs at one scruffy end of the beach... how kind) Walked past the beach to Mulgrave woods. Lovely long walk up to the ruined  castle.. which was 'romanticised in 1792 . It had repair  work on it in 1999 . We expected only a couple of walls but it was more impressive than we expected with buttressed wall which we had to circumnavigate to find the stepped entrance.
We took our time on our walk. The leaves are just beginning to be tinged with Autumn colour. The woods will look fabulous in a few weeks.
Back to the car and our free packed lunch from the hotel which was .. not brilliant..  still, it filled a gap.
We then went on to Staithes. I'd seen so many paintings of this ' photogenic village loved by artist's
Disappointment.  A steep walk down from the car park to cobbled streets and fairly quaint cottages but the tide was out and the riverbed and harbour was dark smelly mud. I'm sure it would have been much more scenic if the tide had been in.
Took a few photos then a steep hot climb back up to the car .
Generally though a very pleasant day.. and once again so lucky with the weather
