Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Pink Floyd - Vegetable Man (recorded 9-11 October 1967)
Syd Barrett would have been 67 today had he not died on 7 July 2006. He wrote the band's early singles and first album but had to leave the band in April 1968.
Vegetable Man was a possible follow-up single to See Emily Play, and was considered for the second album A Saucerful of Secrets. It was ultimately considered too dark and Apples And Oranges became the band's third single instead. Although it remains unreleased, the song has been widely bootlegged and is considered one of his more important works.
The Soft Boys were the first major band to cover this song (on the 1980 EP Near The Soft Boys), but the Jesus and Mary Chain also recorded a version of the song on the B-side of their debut single for Creation Records, Upside Down, in 1984.

(and the book perched on top of the other book just to Smokey's left, is still there, untouched, in exactly the same place)
