Purple Toadflax

We finished the Whitemoor monitoring today and were home early enough for me to spend a little time in the garden. Purple Toadflax is one of the most attractive species we grow for long-tongued bees such as this buff-tailed bumblebee. Sometimes I curse it, because it seeds freely and pops up in all sorts of places, but the flowers are attractive, long-lasting and its importance as a nectar source means that I usually keep most of the plants.
