Woodpecker Season

This papa Downey Woodpecker loves the peanut nuggets.
We have a had bonus season with a variety of woodpeckers raising their young. Perhaps it is the addition of this nugget/suet feeder to attract them? In any case, I have enjoyed watching them fledge and grow.
also, this week a number of late broods of birds have arrived at the feeder.
10+ American Goldfinches on the feeder tray at a time.  And baby Rose Breasted Grosbeaks galore. There's a second or third family of house finches here and bathing in their watering dish.
It seems very late for the goldfinches who are usually the last of the finches to produce babies. usually in August.
I am just marking down and noticing a breeding change this year.

Memo to self: check next Autumn for a nesting/fledging bird count.
