Coffee and culture

The Arts trail team popped in to Manchester today to check out some inspiration. We staggered off the train, re-caffeinated then went for a wander.
The Chinese Arts Centre was a grand start, a nice 'clean' space with hints of what had been and what was to come after their current rehang.
These swirls of books are created by Samantha Y Huang and are the remaining pieces, above the reception desk, from her installation that filled the space last year.
Old books were donated for the project with visitors invited to touch and smell the mini-sculptures and immerse themselves in their history. I loved their tender, new-found, shapes but they were too high up to sniff!
We took in a photographic exhibition of work by a leading musician. I see stronger images here is all I'll say.
All of that well set me up for the hour and a half in the dentist's chair. David Bowie's new single came on the radio. It really helped.
