Day of the Dead
Took the team for a wander round the cemetery this afternoon, after most folk had left. Mourão is full of relatives who've come back to clean the graves, light candles, and leave (mostly plastic) flowers. The whole place was very spic and span; still met people I knew, interesting to chat with them, I do like the matter of fact way death is talked about here, as in Brazil. And the way the departed are still part of the community.
There's now a mass, but we're off to Évora to see the latest Woody Allen and eat hamburgers - both things made the youngsters very happy.
Gratefuls:
- Mike has finished trimming the roof
- we are stocked with fruit and vegetables from the market
- a night out
