Frost and flood

A sparkling, frosty morning for a change, but with rain was forecast for later in the day.

I went out fairly early to check the state of the River Nene after all the recent rain. The river and Rowing Lake were completely connected at Thorpe Meadows, but upstream, at Ferry Bridge, the river was mostly within its banks, just gently spilling out into the flood meadow ditches where it was providing excellent habitat for foraging Shoveler, Teal and Wigeon.
