My Life Is Not Average

View from Plate Rock/An Dun

This view of Loch Moidart, looking towards Castle Tioram, is one of my favourite places in the world. It's not necessarily the most picturesque view, but it looks across the sea loch and even out towards Eigg and Rum, which would be further to the right from this angle. The road curves around the base of the cliff, and the path doesn't lead straight to the viewpoint; you have to scramble up a rock to reach it. The path itself follows some of the old road from Glenuig to Kinlochmoidart, and you can see remnants of old slabs and walls in amongst all the silver birches.

The path begins about halfway between the pier and the jetty, but the best place to park at that side is at the pier itself. Looking at the map, you may be able to park and approach An Dun from the west, but I've never tried this.
