Wharariki Beach

......and a couple from Puponga this morning in extras, the bay was so still, the light "interesting" and difficult to distinguish between the sky and the sea....a natural high key.

An amazing day (again).....after a leisurely  breakfast (after I had taken the two extras, which are just out from our apartment) we walked up hill and more up hill to Pillar Point where there is another smaller lighthouse.  Quite a hike, but we managed it remarkably well.  Maybe all the biking we had been doing has helped.  Lots of incredible coastline landscapes to be had and taken.

Back to headquarters for a quick snack then off to drive and then walk over the hills to Wharariki Beach.
Like Farewell Spit yesterday, this beach has been on my bucket list for ages.....I've seen some stunning images taken here, usually at dusk or dawn with a sunset thrown in.  The tide is crucial, and today the window was early afternoon which really isn't the best time for photography.  I would have liked to do a long exposure, but that wasn't to be.
Lots of people about so had to be patient to get this shot without them.  I was lucky to get some reflection from the wet sand as the tide receded.
Any rate, as we clambered up and over the sand dunes, it really was a gasp moment, so stunning.  We spent ages walking the beach, me photographing the rock structures, caves and more beach photos as well.  The dunes also were photographed at great length.
It was very hot walking back, and wonders would never cease a quirky cafe has popped up beside the car park.....ice creams and milk shakes were the order of the day.

Tonight we have been celebrating, our friends Joan & Trev are celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary......bubbles and nibbles out on our deck overlooking the bay, followed much later by a smashing dinner.

Again, I'm the last one up.  But before closing down, my grateful thanks for the love on yesterdays windswept blip, very much appreciated.

Rainie
