A STRANGER CALLED PIETRO
I took this picture of the smiley ferry-man as we took the boat to the magical island of Carloforte, off the Sardinian coast. I decided to try and send the man a copy of the photo, so had a miniature print made, which I stuck on the outside of an envelope containing an 8 x 8 print. I addressed the envelope in (google-translated) Italian, 'to this man who works on the ferries, Carloforte, Italy.' I included a card with my email.
Imagine my absolute delight, when a few days ago, i received an email from the man's daughter, thanking me for the lovely photo, which had arrived safely.
We are now FB friends and I'm helping her with english exam translations...
