The Piece Hall #Halifax

I always look forward to getting some quality time towards the middle of the day and took this photo in Halifax during my lunch break today.

The Piece Hall is a unique Grade 1 listed Georgian masterpiece in the very heart of Halifax.

Calderdale Council with the help of a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for £7million, will transform this extraordinary building into a world class heritage destination in the heart of the North of England

The £18.9m transformation project will see the Piece Hall turned into a popular visitor attraction boasting quality shops; cafes;  restaurants, creative businesses and an exciting events programme. A new Heritage Interpretation Centre and Visitor Orientation Centre will be created. New learning facilities will showcase the extraordinary heritage of the Piece Hall and explain the important role it plays in Yorkshire's history.

The centrepiece of the scheme will be the upgrading of the courtyard into a spectacular town square.

Work is expected to commence in late 2013.
