MonoMonday: Favourite

My favourite thing at the moment is a fire fighter, even one as exhausted as this one.
Thanks Carolina for this week’s challenge. Sorry I couldn’t do an ornament but they are in short supply down here.

Another day of alternating peace and drama. Not severe drama as such, but increased activity as hotspots flared up and had to be sorted.
At times it was like a war zone with several noisy helicopters overhead, chatter overheard on the radios, snippets of strategic planning gleaned and smoke everywhere.
Quite peaceful here tonight though.

I may have exaggerated the home loss last night (which we’d heard from two separate sources) but we hear things are pretty awful on the northern side of the mountains and the number will probably end up being at least that.
The Mt Wilson fire chief is one of those confirmed to have lost her home. It seems even worse when it happens to someone who may have been able to save it but was out protecting others.
