A Walk in the Arboretum

The rain paused long enough this morning for our customary Sunday morning walk in the Hoyt Arboretum in Portland. It was foggy and drippy and hardly anyone else walking around. A perfect time to explore and enjoy the way that the fog wraps around the trees and sits in the pockets of the hills.

Today's blip and the two extra are so quintessentially northwestern Oregon winter time images...drippy, full of lichen, moss and berries on naked branches that are actually teeming with interest once you get close.

My dad's 91st birthday today - we had a lovely family birthday and he was very happy to have all of his children and their spouses, along with a couple of grandchildren and good friends celebrating with him. Good times.
