Winter Solstice

It became apparent a while ago that our ancient kitchen chairs were a health hazard falling apart and beyond repair so, a couple of weeks ago, we ordered some new ones from that well-known Swedish store. They arrived this morning, and I spent a large part of the day assembling them. Easy enough, but time consuming, and not at all quite the way I'd intended to spend Solstice afternoon. But it means that - if I've assembled the chairs correctly - our guests will be able to sit down safely for Christmas dinner!

The festive season must be upon us - a glass of port as we watched the last episode of 'His Dark Materials' on TV.
