Farmers Protest

Today in Munich a large demonstration by farmers from Bavaria about the way they are being treated by the people in general and the politicians, in particular, bending to the cries, state parliament elections and successful referendums that are forcing through changes in the law to improve the environment. They feel they are being treated as the bogeymen for all the liberal, green, socialist, urban do-gooders.

While I do understand where they are coming from and as regular readers of my journals know, I am a farming supporter but not on this issue and I believe they have misjudged the times.

Protests due to soon include nationwide demonstrations and a central "star drive" in their flash big tractors, financed largely out of EU subsidies, to Berlin.

Today we saw loads of homebound tractors from the Munich demo on our evening walk. I am not sure if they got permission to use the autobahns - I think minimum speed needs to be 80km/h and only the UK's JCB Fastracs and a few German tractors can do that.
