High Level Bridge, Newcastle ,from the Quayside

This bridge has trains on top and road traffic underneath. In about 1886 my Great Grandfather drove a 'brake' over this bridge. It carried 40 people at a time, each paying a half penny. The brake owners paid a four penny toll. I bet they made sure the brake was full each time.
