Quintessential Capitola

It's definitely a poster, probably a mug and a tshirt, and a postcard for sure. Wish you were here! We had a mini vacay, walking through neighboring Capitola Village on a beautiful sunny, albeit cold, day, and later going out to dinner.

The Venetian Court is a series of colorful privately owned condos dating back to the early 1920s. Almost 100 years ago. Good lord how did that happen? I grew up in the 1940s/50s, and the roaring twenties were costume fodder for us--flapper dresses and raccoon coats, the Charleston, 23 skidoo. That was our parents generation, they could show us the dances and resurrect some of the props. So, yeah, when I say the Venetian Court dates back to the 20s, it doesnt seem that far away. I've never stayed here, but those places in the first tier do open right on the beach. It must be lovely on a warm night.

The Extra is a decoration from one of the houses in the Village, bottle fish. Look closely and see how cleverly they are made. Not that I probably would ever really do it, but I'd think about it.
