Skagit Valley Sunset

What an amazing day we had today. We all woke slowly in our various places and then gathered at our house to begin our day. There were six of us: Jason, Parker, Chris, Jyl, Arvin and me. First we went to The Fork, a wonderful small restaurant near the end of North Shore Road near Lake Whatcom. They served us a fantastic, healthy, fresh breakfast which we all happily ate while talking and enjoying the sunny morning together. Then we drove to the North Lake Whatcom Trail for a beautiful walk along the north edge of the lake. It was sunny with a slight haze and the lake was still so there were amazing reflections of the hills on the other side fading softly into the haze. I almost blipped one of the photos I took at the lake.

After the walk we went to our house for a quick snack before driving down Chuckanut Drive to Dave and Nora's in Anacortes to meet them and Steve for our last dinner together. We stopped at the Chuckanut Bay Gallery and looked at all the wonderful arts and crafts they have there. Then as we continued to drive the sun set. It was exquisite. We drove through Bow and Edison and finally stopped at a flooded field for this amazing shot of the sunset. It was breath taking and all of us were deeply moved by the beauty there. (Check this out in large.)

As we were running a bit late we hurried on to Dave and Nora's where we had a delicious dinner and talked and laughed together. Finally it was time for Chris and Jyl to head back to Seattle. Jason and Parker decided to stay in Anacortes in a motel and spend their morning exploring the area before heading to Seattle to fly home to New York. Steve drove Arvin and me back home. What an amazing and wonderful day. It didn't hurt that we enjoyed amazing beauty and sunshine along the way.
