Blob the Builder

Technical Monday

A close up photo of first corner of skirting to be fitted. The objective here is to achieve a flush finished wall, i.e. the skim coat of plaster to be on the same vertical plane as the face of the skirting board.
So, first a 100mm strip at the base of the 12.5mm plasterboard is cut away. Then the 18mm thick skirting is fixed into the position vacated by the plasterboard strip.
Next a metal stop end bead is affixed to the bottom edge of the plasterboard, crucially leaving a 2mm shadow gap for effect.
Following this the plasterers will come along and present a 3mm-ish skim plaster coat to the plasterboard.
And eventually the plaster will be painted over.
Voila, here's hoping!
