My main tip for today is this:

Macro photography in the middle of winter when it's windy, freezing cold, icy and trying to snow is not advisable.

Not unless you want possible frostbite in your fingers. And to have tears streaming down your face from the ice cold wind. And not unless you have the patience of a saint whilst you wait for the wind to stop for a couple of seconds so you can grab a shot.

In the end I gave in and came inside to defrost and resume crash position on the sofa under my warm blanket do some cleaning and tidying.

So this is your lot as it's far too cold for anything more.
