Thursday 24 January 2013: Hot Technology
Today blip is a shot of a mains over ethernet device with a thermal imaging camera in the high-contrast colour mode. The Fluke camera I'm using is really designed for industrial applications like this, where you want to see what is getting hot in your machinery or electronics. In this case it's a several year old job and it's wasting quite a bit of electricity as heat, whereas the more modern units from the same company run quite more efficiently and hence cooler.
(back blip - tonight I have three more houses to scan, so while you're all warm in front of the TV I'm tramping round the village scanning people's houses for them!)
