Belted Kingfisher

It was another sunny day today but not quite as cold as yesterday. We wanted to get out of the house again so we headed to Bethlehem in search of birds or other wildlife.

As we were walking the trail along the Monocacy creek I heard the tall tale call of the Kingfisher. We had seen this bird only once before along this same creek ~ although in a different location as today. It was hard to photograph then, just as it was today. He doesn't stay put very long and I really didn't think I had gotten a good photo.

When I got home and uploaded the photos to my PC I was extremely pleased by how decent some of them were ~ including this one. Considering the distance I took this at, I am thrilled with the outcome!
