In the garden and beyond

For a couple of weeks now, I've been spotting Holly Blue butterflies around the village and often one will fly across our garden (which has holly and ivy on the bank at the back). Today, at last, one settled on a bay leaf with the sun shining through its wings. So that's top left in my collage.

The seedling top right is the subject of my poem today:

Like a toddler with a blanket
or a dummy he won't part with,
this mini-marigold holds tight
the seed she had to start with.    © CW 2020

And finally, on our walk we discovered the deep tractor ruts filled in. The ground is all flat now where these puddles were just over a month ago.

Happy St George's Day!
