Billy Goat

Well, it has taken a long time, less than 50% compliance, but have been blipping for nearly 13 years.
Anyway more sanding and varnishing and the boat is looking less like a lump of wood and more like a piece of furniture.
The last time I built a boat was in the late 70’s when sapele was regarded as a cheap mahogany and marine ply came sapele faced which varnished beautifully. Today sapele is anything but cheap and marine ply is made from okoume which is pale and lacking any grain or pattern. Still there’s not much varnished ply so I can enjoy the deep shot silks in the sapele seats and trims.
