Remains of the forest

At Kaikoura near the seal colony. This tree, reminded me of a much photographed tree in a marked dip in the land on the Roman Wall. It actually appears in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, that Kevin Costner film. The Roman Wall and Nottingham are about 150 miles apart not just down the road as Hollywood suggests. This one seems to have lost its topmost branches to the weather so looks unlike the classical conifer.
