Clyde Tug

I had 10 minutes to spare between a meeting in Renfrew and one in town, so I headed down to the Clydeside to see the Renfrew-Yoker crossing. I've passed the end of the road hundreds of times but never ventured down. There has been a passenger crossing here since 1614.

This is from the installation of the engines of the tug "Clyde" which sits at the side of the river. The tug was propelled by paddles, and worked on the Clyde for 61 years until it was replaced by a screw-driven steam tug in 1912. The engines are getting rather rusted, so lots of interesting photo opportunities
