The Giant of Provence

Today me & Mrs MD (via our treadmill) reached the summit of Mont Ventoux aka 'The Giant of Provence'.  It's a 1911m (6270 ft) peak in the French Alps.
This mountain is famous for its association with the Tour de France.  There is a road right to the very top and is a popular challenge for road cyclists. For Brits of a 'certain age' it is remembered as where our leading road race cyclist Tommy Simpson died when just 1 kilometer from the summit in 1967.  His death was reported as a heart attack, brought on by exhaustion and complicated by drugs.
The area is well known for its wine production - .my extra shows the prominence of the mountain amongst the vineyards.
We had thought of bringing a few bottles back with us, but had to be content with a delivery from Aldi..
