Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

The substitute coach

My good friend and rowing buddy J rescued me with a call early this morning that her nasty cold seemed better today and the water looked great so how about a row? It's been weeks, due to cold weather and lack of a partner for the double. (1 more week for H. til his last stitches are out...) So that was a treat and we had a grand time. Later the sun actually came out and it warmed up and H and I had a good long slow walk - he's helping me look for the alphabet in nature (for another, different alphabet book).... it's not that easy, but it's pretty fun and I'm enjoying having time for photographing...

And then we thought we'd go see Niklas' basketball game. He's on a parks department team (everyone on this team was 9 on Aug 31) but today the kids showed up at 5:30, but the coach and the assistant coach were "AWAY". (Unbelievable...never showed up.) Fortunately, Nik's Dad, (#2 son) was there so had a last minute surprise job, by default. No basketballs to practice with tho (the coach brings them). The other team had balls to play with. Just a bit frustrating! I think he'd love to be the coach actually, having played basketball on a championship team in high school, but can't commit the regular time. However I couldn't resist a blip for today ...Nik is the tallest kid on this team, and he even looks like he's listening to his Dad.
