"Maybe Just For A Moment..."

....Our thoughts can go back to past days, when the pioneers of our countries lived just like this....
....(Only, normally, the jinker belonged in the stables, not in the kitchen!!!)

So simple life would have been, in many ways, and in others, not as simple, as we all have discovered..from our forebears...

And I dare say many of you will remember some of the items on display here at the Old Mildura Station Homestead...it is a recreation of the first Mildura Station established in 1847.
I took this shot through the window this evening.
Note the hessian bag ceiling, this has always intrigued me, as I remember them on the outback stations.
I can also remember my Grandfather driving up along the stoney road toward our home on the farm, sitting in his black jinker pulled by one of the horses.

But thinking back, it may have been a little more elaborate, with a canopy, and generally with 2 farm dogs, who kept jumping out and eventually were tied to the back (tough dogs!) for the remainder of the short journey from the town nearby.

No doubt, many of us will have stories like this.
It's nice to look back into the past sometimes, isn't it...it's good for the soul...
