Meet George McGill

Driving to Durham this morning, I stopped to take a picture of a rusty old steam engine on the side of the road. This fine man, George McGill drove up and introduced himself. He wears many hats, among them he is the fire chief of Harrells, North Carolina. He told me all about the engine, and other antiques that are scattered on his land. Then he took Gina and I into his barn and showed us his pride and joy, an International truck that was used by his father when George was a boy in Kings Mountain. He has totally restored it and it is now in pristine condition.

Tonight we attended a fantastic concert at the Carolina Theater in Durham, featuring the great jazz singer Jane Monheit and her guest, the famous Texas fiddler Mark O'Conner.

Tomorrow we travel to Pinehurst and we will play a round of golf there on Monday.
