The Edge of the Wold

The Dog of Tao

Here is Gus leading the way up through the snowdrop wood above Beetham on our way to the Fairy Steps. The snowdrops are perhaps a week from being at their best - given a little sunshine (there was none today). There is a great photo there to be had with the bank of flowers leading the eye to the tumbledown house, but in three years of trying I haven't yet found it.

It was a mud luscious, mild winter's day as we made our way towards Arnside. Gus was tentative with the Fairy Steps narrow defile through the limestone cliff, but eventually he followed Wifie down. And we squelched our way home through the low-lying fields that desperately want to be a proper wetland again.
