Vivian Maier Exhibition

Tonight I went to see the Vivian Maier Exhibition at Photographic Center Northwest in downtown Seattle.

If you have never heard of Vivian Maier, it is not surprising. She was not "discovered" until just a few years ago. Vivian was a nanny in Chicago, and during her off hours, she was a street photographer, and spent virtually all of her pay shooting photographs on a daily basis. Over the course of her career as a nanny, she accumulated a collection of several hundred thousand images.

Her pictures were "discovered" through the purchase of some trunks and boxes at an auction in 2007.

The new owners are going to great lengths to ensure that this amazing collection is preserved for future generations to see and enjoy. Vivian managed to catch some really great slices of daily life.

If she were still alive today, she would be a natural for blip!
