Ann

So, today Ann enters the record. We met nearly 35 years ago on Sunday, 2nd October 1978 in a reception for Freshers in Grant House, Pollock Halls of Residence pertaining to the University of Edinburgh, at the very start of our law studies that through thick and thin (I will survive! ) saw our families come together to celebrate our graduation with honours at a lovely lunch in The Dirlton Arms Hotel, East Lothian on 23rd July 1982.

'How do you remember all those dates?', Ann asks.
'Just do!', I reply.

Our friendship has endured long after our early bonding days which memorably included climbing Arthurs Seat in the snow at the midnight hour ushering in the 1st December 1978, and an equally memorable final year final bash on the sands of Crammond on 16th June 1982! Endured to encompass giving mutual advice on the compatability of our various prospective life partners along the way (DD passed the test with flying colours!), weddings, meeting up in every place and continent in the world that DD and I have lived, simply being there for one and other when loved ones in our families have passed on, sharing our joys and other travails, and Ann being the only person I could ever have asked to say a few well chosen words at my 50th Birthday party nearly three years ago.

So, this blip is long overdue but I hope worth the wait, and also that something of Ann's personailty comes through ('I didn't realise I was going to have to pose for it!'). It was a rare treat to coincide in Edinburgh, Ann being down from Inverness on business for the day. Tentative plans to meet up in Rio in late September are already afoot!
