GUEST FOR LUNCH

I'm at the track (Road America) Thursday through Sunday for the big INDY CAR invasion. There is a robust population of 13-Lined Ground Squirrels (Spermophilus tridecemlineatus), a.k.a. gophers, living under the Jersey Barriers that separate the track from adjacent areas. I always have lunch at corner 14 with my corner-worker friend and the gophers regularly panhandle there. I shared a bit of rye bread with this one and he really appreciated a carrot slice and a piece of apple. I'm sure the resident Red-tailed Hawks appreciate us fattening up their prey.
