The birds and the bees...

...and the Brown Hare (for my non-European friends, this is Lepus Europaeus.  It isn't a rabbit, it's a completely different species although they look similar).

Jeanniejay has lent me a lovely book about hares which explains that hares breed between January and August.  The gestation period is 42 days, so I will be looking out in late August for little ones.  The buck has a small nick in his left ear, which means that when I see only one of them I will know which one it is.
