"FREE" CLAY

This is Billy from the Wednesday Morning (WAM) class.
He is preparing to skimming off the top layer of excess water from the last bucket of the re-"NEW"ed clay so he can ladle out the bottom layer of wet clay (texture of very thick yogurt) onto the drying table. After a week of drying it will be usable clay.
Everyone in the Ceramics classes saves their scraps and carefully drains their water so the clay sediment doesn't go down the drain. The scraps and clay sediment are then collected in 4 large buckets until full. Water is added. We wait about a week, then use a painter's power paddle to thoroughly blend the softened clay and water. Lastly it is ladled out to dry which removes the excess water.
Finally, there is free "hybrid" clay (from all the different colours, stoneware and porcelain clay used in class) for students to use.
