A Day In The Life

Anne & Lucy

It’s been a busy day in the yard: mowing the lawn, planting new perennials purchased yesterday and watering the garden • It’s the second day not spotting the monarch but honey bees and golden diggers are prolific • Today’s harvest included two zucchinis, one hot pepper and a grape tomato. Squash Alert: Pumpkins, spaghetti and butternut all look great • I really noticed all of the Queen Anne’s Lace growing along the edge of the property while mowing today. It’s a common weed, but I love its dainty white flowers and how wild and sturdy it is. Did you know it’s actually a wild carrot? • Anne had a visiting pollinator, a common green bottle or blow fly, Lucilia Sericata. Lucy for short ;) • Another busy outdoor day is on tap tomorrow. We hope to harvest the garlic planted last October, and add the last dirt to the fingerling potato bed • A Tropical Storm looks to be headed our way the middle of next week. We do welcome the rain, but hope the wind won’t be too strong • Is it really August First?
