a blizzard begins

I have taken lots of scenic shots already as the storm starts to bear down. The shaky photo I blipped portrays the conditions suddenly taking a turn for the worse. Two storms have joined energy and we're beginning to see the weather get dicier by the hour. The pressure has dropped, so the ocean and the atmosphere have set the stage for a big winter nor'easter/blizzard. Suddenly the winds are picking up and beginning to break the white silence we've had since the first flakes at 9AM. These storms take time to build, dump their load of snow and move away. The blizzard warning is in force until Saturday afternoon We're in for a long and stormy night with projected snowfalls in our area that could top 3feet, or probably close to a meter.

The city of Boston has 600 snow clearing vehicles in service and the Governor Patrick has issued a ban on road travel at 4PM today. We have never had an order like this since the Blizzard of 1978. We're all home, tucked in and hoping to keep our power. I'm sure I'll be up and down all night looking out the windows. You can see a bit of Max's daytime loft space in the upper right of that linked window shot.
