Plague Village

SATURDAY - Staycation Day #1

Another hot day.

After finishing mowing the lawn we headed down to Eyam in the Derbyshire Peak District.

Eyam is known as the Plague Village. In 1665-6, following an outbreak of bubonic plague in the community, rather than escape,  the village went into lockdown to stop the disease spreading to neighbouring places. Many families were completely wiped-out.
